Simon Delaney put his trust in Kube Kitchens for the ideal kitchen for his family and filming his upcoming cooking show. Here is an exclusive look inside.
After being encouraged by several friends and neighbours, Simon Delaney and his family decided to visit Kube while determining what they wanted for their new kitchen and living space. They had several requirements as well as an extensive wish list. Simon wanted to create a space that revolved around an island that would be the central hub of the home. Worktop space and storage were also near the top of the list. Simon needed a kitchen that was not only highly functional for his family and household, but also a kitchen that would perform well during filming his upcoming cooking show and look fabulous. They wanted to optimise the storage space that they had available and increase their quality of life. Simon tells us, "When we decided to remodel our kitchen and living space, we knew we needed a kitchen that would function well for our family and also look spectacular for filming my upcoming cooking programme. Many of our friends recommended Kube, and we feel fortunate that they did."
One more obstacle that stood in the way was an existing boiler on the wall in the centre of what was to become the main counter run. The boiler was housed previously by an oversized unit that ran down to the counter, leaving a large footprint and breaking up the workflow. The Delaney's met Neil Dunne, an award-winning kitchen designer, in Kube's Balbriggan showroom. Neil was able to assist in creating a design that the Delaney's fell in love with, that met all of their needs and ticked all the boxes on their wish list.
"Our designer, Neil, really understood our needs. He fitted everything we wanted into the space we have and made recommendations we hadn't even thought of. When friends visit our home now, they can't believe we haven't extended, and the room is the same as when we had our old kitchen" Says Simon. Have a look at other Kube kitchen designs.
The Delaney's chose a Kube Lux kitchen in High Gloss Quartz Grey. "We were able to configure the cabinets in such a way that the boiler unit was the same size as all of the wall units," says designer, Neil Dunne,"so it blends in perfectly, creating a seamless look and freeing up valuable counter space." The worktops are Silestone Quartz in Maple Stellar. The worktop is more than ample on the island and running around the kitchen from the tall presses to the sink area under the window. To add a homely ambience to the kitchen, and to tie in the dining and living areas of the open plan room, a Rustic Wild Oak breakfast bar with seating for four borders the island. A Neff, five zone induction hob on the island makes family mealtime a snap. A suite of Neff integrated appliances furnishes the kitchen. A slide and hide single oven with a disappearing door and a compact oven with built-in microwave are set into the tall presses with seamless combination strips allowing for a gapless appearance. Side by side, a fully integrated Neff larder fridge and larder freezer are housed in the tall units next to the ovens. A fully integrated dishwasher is located conveniently near the sink and the storage area for a smooth workflow when loading and unloading the dishwasher.
In addition to the kitchen design, Neil assisted in planning a simple but very effective, matching, living and TV area by combining the materials used in the kitchen. "Our storage capacity has nearly doubled, and we all fit comfortably. Mealtime has become a joy, and everything always seems to be easy to hand. The kitchen is my domain, and I couldn't be happier."
