So what interesting innovations can we see on the horizon? One design idea that stands out to us is the growing use of textured materials in the kitchen. Looks and functionality have always been key to premium kitchen design. Now, leading designers are also exploring the importance of touch.
The kitchen is all about celebrating the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes of food. Although it may not seem obvious at first, being in the kitchen is also a very tactile experience. Natural textures enhance our sensitivity to the full range of sensation. The textures of the food and the warmth of the cooking are all part of the experience. It’s a subtle effect and in Denmark they have a wonderful word that describes it perfectly. They call it ‘hygge’, which means creating a warm atmosphere and enjoying the good things in life with good people.
To help you feel the hygge in your kitchen we’re using new textured materials such as concrete, cotton, leather, steel, and wood. We’re making the tactile aspects of design a key part of a special kitchen experience as we head into 2019.
One of the discoveries of recent years has been the surprising beauty of cement when prepared expertly. A beautiful example of this is the Kube Portland kitchen, with a unique cement surface that’s finished by hand. Every element is slightly different, creating a subtle atmosphere of craftsmanship. As you run your fingertips along the surface you get a feeling of strength, reliability, and longevity. The Portland Kitchen is pictured here in Agate Cement paired with Soft Lack in Black. It’s also available in Anthracite Grey.
The Kube Vida kitchen offers you a choice which is both stylish and environmentally conscious. Made entirely of recycled material, the Vida door pictured here in cotton papyrus has a subtle softness to the touch that adds a homely feel to your kitchen. It creates an organic, natural atmosphere for your kitchen. In addition to Papyrus Vida is also available in a darker Cotton Quartz.
The velvety texture of the Kube Nappa kitchen is the cornerstone of an inviting living space that exudes warmth. Amazingly, the leather feel of this kitchen is made from a material that can withstand the wear and tear of daily kitchen routines. Beautifully inspired by nature the Kube Nappa kitchen pictured in Inca Gold is also available in Brazil Brown.
The Kube Ferro kitchen, which we debuted at this years House Event, in Blue Steel with a magnetic front makes a refreshing statement. The feel is industrial chic. Although it is elegant and cool the steel kitchen produces a homely, eat in atmosphere that creates a natural and authentic living space. The Kube Ferro kitchen is available in the pictured Blue Steel and oxidised Corten Steel.
The Kube Legno kitchen embraces passion with elegance by paring subtle colouring with expressive real wood. This charismatic kitchen signals clarity and order while maintaining a cosy homeliness to create a live-in kitchen that everyone will want to congregate in. This kitchen, pictured in Oak Sepia paired with Papyrus Grey lacquer, is also available in Oak Champagne, Oak Marone, and Oak Truffle.
